Winter classes 2019

Guys' Study: Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
Need a Guys' Bible study and a daily devotional guide? Get both with this ongoing drop-in group! We focus on creating a space for fellowship and connecting our faith with our daily life struggles and joys. This class is open to guys of all ages and uses the 365-day daily devotional guide, The Upper Room Disciplines 2019. Cost of book is $ 12.00.

Fellowship Bible Study
The Fellowship Bible Study is a drop-in class open to all young adults and families. The group focuses on a journey through the Bible and diving into its  connection and relevance in our lives today. The class is led by Henry and June Long. or and meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. 

Holy Listening
This class invites you to listen to God through lectio divina, yoga and breath prayer. Beginners and drop-ins are welcome. Each session will last a half hour. Bring your yoga mat or towel.  Class is led by Sherri Smith and takes place on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. 

Simply Tuesday: Small-Moment Living in a Fast-Moving World
Real life happens in the small moments we find on the most ordinary day of the week. Simply Tuesday holds secrets we can't see in a hurry -- secrets not just for our schedules but for our souls. It's time to release our obsession with building a life, and believe in the life Christ is building within us -- one simple Tuesday at a time. This 5-week class is led by Dr. Mary Henley. Cost of book: $10.00.

John -- The Gospel of Light and Life
Experience spiritual growth and renewal in Adam Hamilton's study, John. Follow the life, ministry, death and resurrection of Jesus and gain in a deeper understanding of some of the best-known verses in the New Testament. The study lasts five weeks and is led by Bruce Dooley. Cost of book: $11.00.

Companion to the Old Testament
Do you have questions about the Old Testament and how it relates to us in today's society? Or do you want to gain a deeper understanding of the Old Testament with a fresh perspective? If you answered yes to either question then you will want to be a part of this five-week study. Class is led by Rev. Ted Leach and there is no charge for the book.

Legacy Journey
The Legacy class is a biblically based class that teaches you how to truly live and leave a legacy for generations to come. Topics include: recap of the Seven Baby Steps, Biblical principles of wealth, real estate investments and pros and cons of stocks, bonds and mutual funds. Cost of class is $50 and is offered Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Class facilitator is Tom Weideman.

The Wonder of Heaven
The class will delve into scripture and various commentaries utilizing independent study and group discussion to gain insight into the wonder of heaven. Class is led by Peggy Scott at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Bring your study Bible to class. 

Women's Study: Thursday Mornings

Looking for a morning Bible study and fellowship? Our women's group invites you to be a part of the study that meets once a week. The class is led by Liz Ewing and is ongoing and begins at 10 a.m. Bring your Bible.

Be a good steward of the body God has given you! Join certified Yoga Instructor Erin Roberson as she leads a yoga class of breathing, stretching and strengthening. Erin said class starts right on time each week ... so arrive early if you can! 

Refit cLASS ... combines cardio dance movements with toning & flexibility 

Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall; $5.00 per class
The body-mind-spirit emphasis of the class creates an uplifting experience that lasts beyond the workout. Certified class instructors: Alesia Aaron and Jenni Hodges.


KNITWITNESSES - thursdays   2:30 - 4:30 P.M.

Our weekly KnitWitnesses group knits prayer shawls, lap blankets and plarn mats every Thursday afternoon in room 120 (Parlor). 

This lively group always needs more help and would love to teach you how to

knit or make plarn 

mats if you're interested, so just stop by any Thursday! 

The prayer shawls and lap blankets are for folks dealing with health issues or loss of a loved one and the plarn mats are given to the homeless here in Birmingham, as well as sent to children in need in Africa through one of our mission partners.

Thursday morning Ladies Bible study - 10 a.m.
